How to Gain Promotion
Want to be a Ref

The following criteria is laid down by the Football Association for all promotion candidates to follow, who wish to obtain promotion from County Referee Junior Level 7, and County Referee Level 6 to the Senior County Referee Level 5.

All new Level 7 and Level 6 candidates must apply for promotion by completing the R5 Application for Promotion Form. Existing candidates will be kept on the scheme until they achieve Level 5 status providing they comply with the various requirements shown below.

All candidates
 

bullet

must attend during each promotion season an In Service Training Seminar specifically designated for promotion candidates at their current level

bullet

must pass an examination on the Laws of the Game during each promotion season

bullet

must keep the appropriate Assessing Co-ordinator apprised of every match they officiate giving prior notice of time and venue

bullet

must officiate on a minimum of 20 eleven a side competitive matches during the period of the promotion year (i.e. 01/03/08 to 28/02/09)

bullet

will be assessed on a minimum of 3 matches by different county assessors.

The next promotion season commences 01 March 2008 and finishes 28 February 2009.

Please contact the County Office – Telephone 01372 373 543 or simply download and complete a copy of the R5 Application Form from this website.
Send the completed R5 Form as instructed on the form to the County Referees' Secretary.

Enhanced Promotion
Have you got what it takes to do the 'double jump' from Level 7 to Level 5 in a Season?

The Referees' Committee is looking to encourage those who can meet the criteria below to apply to be considered for the Enhanced Promotion Scheme for the year ending 28/02/2008. Those with most to gain will be likely to be in their late twenties or early thirties as success would give them the opportunity to progress to Contributory League football or higher. Considerable commitment is required.

Criteria:

Part 1. Promotion from Level 7 to 6 between 01/03/2008 and 30/09/2008

a.- referee at least 20 11-a-side games
b.- be assessed at least 3 times
c.- attend an In-Service Training Workshop for Level 7 referees on promotion
d.- pass an examination on the Laws of the Game

Part 2. Promotion from Level 6 to 5 between 01/10/2008 and 28/02/2009

a - referee at least another 20 11-a-side games
b - be assessed at least another 3 times
c - attend an In-Service Training Workshop for Level 6 referees on promotion
d - pass another examination on the Laws of the Game

Part 3. Consideration for further Promotion from Level 5 to Level 4;

If under the age of 43, officiate as a neutral Assistant Referee on at least 5 Supply League matches in the promotion period between 01/10/2008 and 28/02/2009. Candidates can only be considered for nomination to Level 4 once they have passed a Fitness Test based upon Contributory League requirements.
